Good News in October 2020

As Thanksgiving draws near, we reflect on the goodness of God and the many ways He has blesse

d Elizabeth's Library in 2020. As we count our blessings, we are grateful for all of you who have prayed and partnered with us to establish the projects that have brought literacy, libraries, educational opportunities, the gospel, and hope to many.

Psalm 100:4 - Enter His gates with Thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His Name.

Christmas Blessings

During this season of thankfulness, we begin thinking of Christmas and giving a special gift to someone we love. This year, ELI has several unique ways for you to bless that individual and our African friends.

Pave the Way to Light the Library

In our September Good News, we launched our Pave the Way to Light the Library campaign. Construction of the library was completely funded except for the purchase of the solar lighting system. Just a few days ago, a very special ELI friend asked if it was not too late to help with the Pave the Way campaign, because she wanted to buy two bricks (one for either side of the pathway), not with her name but painted with the words "Jesus Loves You."  What a blessing that will be for our friends in Susu as they walk the path to see the names of friends, but also be reminded that Jesus loves them. Only $1500 is needed to fund the solar lighting, so please consider a unique Christmas gift of a $ 50 brick in honor of someone special.

Amazon Wish List

Another great way to bless others this holiday season is to shop our Amazon Wish List. The hundreds of African children being served by our mobile library program enjoy the same quality books as our American children. However, for most of them, it is the first time for them to read a book about their world and see actual pictures illustrating the familiar routines of their lives. They are delighted! Our ELI librarian in consultation with our African staff has composed a list of requested African themed books and other needed resources. Please visit our shopping list and encourage family and friends to bless others during this giving season. The list will only be available until December 7, as our next book shipment to Africa will leave California in mid December.

Susu, Zambia Mobile Library

The mobile library continues to bring the joy of new reading materials to very rural villages in Zambia! Now, with the benefit of a motorcycle (as well as the heavy duty bike), school children anxiously await library day! The mobile library program has continued to be a lifeline during the travel restrictions this year, and with schools beginning to reconvene, these materials are especially necessary. Thank you for supporting the Susu Mobile Library!
