The seasonal heavy rains have continued through February, and roads to the rural villages became impassable due to large potholes and lots of mud! Mr. Kenneth (Zambia) kept very busy with the maintenance needs of the Susu Farm truck and organizing the new resources received in December for the very special first Mobile Library meeting of 2026. All the schools are so excited to return their December inventory and look at the many new treasures in the library. Mr. Jacob (Malawi) was also busy, happily shopping for very special gifts for the village children. They will be delighted when these surprises arrive and so will you (report and pictures to follow in next newsletter). Mr. Jacob also spent time in the Lilongwe Library and watched Ms. Bethel help encourage the many children visiting the small facility located in one of the poorest areas in the capital city of Lilongwe.

We love sharing these stories with you, knowing that you rejoice with us at every small step forward in each community. So many lives are changed because of your prayers and financial support. Thank you.

Susu Library - Early Education Program

The children were so happy the few days that the library was open and they could attend the Early Education Program. There were so many new resources to try, and Ms. Natasha always has exciting activities planned. It was impossible to prepare large meals in the outdoor kitchen, but the children enjoyed their snack of bread and juice.

Susu Library Mobile Library program

All the teachers scheduled to attend the Mobile Library workshop were thrilled to learn the favorable weather forecast. The carefully chosen books taken back to their respective schools in early December had been well used by other teachers and read over and over by the students. New stories were in high demand.

The teachers represent eight rural schools with a combined enrollment of almost 10,000 students. Elizabeth's Library is the only source for children's books and educational resources. Though each teacher returns to their school with 250 - 300 books each month, ELI hopes to do more. And for the first time, the teachers were able to select two puzzles or games or other educational manipulatives to take back to their school's students. They were thrilled, but imagine a school of almost 1,000 students and only two puzzles. ELI hopes you will sponsor one or more of the 100 Boxes of Blessings ready to ship this April.

Susu Farm - Banana Crop

Mr. Kenneth and the farm team are carefully tending the banana plantation and ask us to pray for a very successful harvest. They have worked very hard to carefully tend this amazing field, but the harvest belongs to the Lord.

Lilongwe Library

Mr. Jacob reports:

Our library in Lilongwe is managed with great care and dedication by Ms. Bethel, who's warm and welcoming personality make the facility a truly cherished community treasure. It is the only library available to a very large population, so you will even find high school and college students using the books for school research projects.

Ms. Bethel opens the library three days a week and often finds a long line of children waiting for her at the door. She reports that the library consistently sees 50 visitors each open day and frequently has to ask children to return another day. The local children really enjoy the opportunity to play games (chess remains a favorite), complete puzzles and read all the marvelous books. Ms. Bethel says that the Children's Bibles are still the favorite request.

ELI US has asked Jacob and his team to look for a larger facility to accommodate the growing number of library patrons of all ages. It is especially difficult to accommodate the older students and adults, as a quiet atmosphere is impossible when 50 or more children are actively engaged. The need for a larger library is a great problem to address, so please join us in praying for the Lord to identify the perfect place.

ELI is grateful for all our prayer partners and financial supporters. We love to share the pictures and stories that tell you the results of your investments in the lives of the precious children and adults served by ELI projects. Just like us in America, increasing fuel and commodity prices are affecting our programs and outreach capacity. We ask that you prayerfully consider increasing your monthly support or give a generous gift for items in our "Love in Action" catalogue. Additional funding for our Basic Needs program will bless many Malawi widows and children struggling through this very long hungry season.

This newsletter is full of stories and pictures that show the impact of our Boxes of Blessings when they arrive at our libraries in both Zambia and Malawi. The contents bless the minds, bodies and souls of the recipients. Our next shipment leaves in late April and we hope to send all 100 boxes full of incredible donations. In addition to our high-quality books, we will send 60 Children's Bibles, beautiful dresses created by the talented seamstresses of Dress a Girl and Delores’ cuddly dolls for little girls, who have never enjoyed a toy of their own.

Thank you for partnering with ELI to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ

in word and deed.
