EL Zambia

Nearly four years ago, a two-room community school received its first batch of quality books from Elizabeth's Library International.  Within a few months those books were the beginning of a bicycle-powered mobile library centered in rural Susu Village and reaching out to tiny communities. Many children in these remote areas had never held a book before. Today in Susu Village, ELI has funded a brand-new library building, a mobile library program reaching eighteen rural villages, adult literacy programs, and agricultural and other income generating projects.

Teacher and Pastor Resource Center

Pastors in rural Zambia often face a severe shortage of Bibles and study materials, leading them to request deeper theological training and reference resources from ELI. To address these needs, the following resources are provided:

Early Education Program

The Early Education Program in Susu is a central part of the Susu Community Library's outreach, primarily featuring a Saturday morning session for pre-school age children and their younger siblings. Key activities are led by Ms. Natasha, who prepares "exciting activities" and "new treasures" from the Boxes of Blessings shipments to engage the students.

Mobile Library

The Susu Mobile Library program began as a creative solution by Mr. Kenneth, the head teacher of the Susu Community School. To save villagers from walking long distances to the school’s small library, he started transporting books to other villages using a standard bicycle with a single box of books on the handlebars.

Farm

The project began in 2019 when ELI supported the purchase of 20 hectares of undeveloped land, which was painstakingly cleared by hand from the "African bush". The farm has expanded significantly over the years, including the acquisition of 40 additional hectares (99 acres) in early 2022 to accommodate growing livestock and crops, followed by another 25 hectares (63 acres) featuring a mature mango grove in 2023. Today, the farm encompasses over 200 acres of fertile land
